Bodyboard

One session in Taiwan: Bodyboarding perfect waves

Since moving to Taiwan we've spent a lot of time exploring, and not too much time surfing. Now that the summer flat spell has past, all that is going to change. Bevan finally managed to find some waves after Typhoon Talim past by sending loads of swell to the Taiwanese coastline. These waves were perfect for bodyboarding, with A-Frame peaks offering loads of barrels and launch sections. It's been a while so there were a few cobwebs to sweep out, but on the whole, this was one epic session!▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬♫Music By♫●JNSN - York●Song/Free Download - https://youtu.be/pizmmavCA5k●Follow JNSN - http://smarturl.it/JNSN▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Sam Light - An Ode to the Journey

Sam Light was just crowned the champion of the KPL for the second year in a row. Riding in the park has come such a long way in such a short amount of time. We remember when Sam was just another grimy kiteboarder up to his knees in the hood river moving rails around. This video is a salute to those days; no better way to honor the accolades of the present with a nod to the past.  Words by Alex Fox: Five years ago I was asked by a kiteboarding magazine to write a column for one of their issue. I remember being really torn on what to write about. They gave me free reign and didn't have an assignment or any real direction. I was knee-deep in my "career" and I wanted to talk about other riders that inspired me, and people that kited for the love. At this time, Sam Light had just gotten on Slingshot and I think we had gone on one trip together. I was really hyped that we were now teammates because it kind of gave me something to chase and it pushed me to get better. I came across the article not long ago and here is what I wrote: "I’ve had the pleasure of getting to spend a fair amount of time with Hayling Island’s favorite son after his recent signing with Slingshot, and he has blown me away. Sam has come along way in the past couple years from an (not so) average PKRA rider to one of the heaviest hitters in the park movement. This dude has claimed the top spot at every single kicker and rail event out there, pretty impressive stuff when you consider he has also pieced together some of the best and biggest video parts in kiteboarding. From Dynamics to Island Time with Dre, Sam has been a busy guy basically dominating kiteboarding on all facets. With a style that is as consistent as it is beautiful, I don’t think there are many riders out there that I would rather watch. When you can find someone who can span the spectrum of style and technicality you know it’s something special." Footage: Courtesy of Patrick Wieland Videos: THE GORGE DISTINCTION WELCOME AWAY

Vans Presents First Layer Russia: A Short Film | Snow | VANS

The First Layer project returns with another epic adventure, and this year the spotlight falls on Russia. Europe’s finest street riders took on a journey to experience the cold and endless urban jungle of Russia. Riders, Benny Urban, Sparrow Know, Will Smith, Antti Jussila, Sami Luhtanen, Nikita Sekh, Cees Wille and Kevin Trammer started their exploration in Moscow, before heading east to Novosibirsk, Siberia for part two of the trip. “Our trip to Novosibirsk was definitely one of a kind! I think there is almost no location in the world where Street Snowboarding is as special as this far east in Siberia,” says Benny Urban, Vans Snow Team. “ Street riding is really intriguing to most of us. How come you spend time in the city when you could be in the montain reconnecting with the elements? Well, what if you grew up in Helsinki, Quebec or Moscow? What if snowboarding in the street is just as natural for you as playing in your backyard? With huge cities and tons of snow, Russia is a promising playground for those who reinterpret the urban environment. When you spend twelve hours a day in the street, you get to experiment with Russian vibes, even if it’s hard to understand what’s really going on over there. I have to say many moments I thought, WTF are we doing here! Pulling dead dogs out of the run or signing papers in a russian police station ... and not to mention that I wasn’t the one bailing in the landing after multiple attempts. It’s crazy to observe a team effort and the guys willingness to get something as trivial as a video clip. Russia was challenging, definitely not as smooth as a ‘walk in the park’ but a unique experience and one where memories have been made,” says Bruno Rivoire, Vans Snow Team Manager. To accompany the launch of the short film, Matt Georges has produced a limited edition newspaper version which will be available in select Vans stores across Europe. "Mt.
