Watch more episodes: to our channel:’re watching Surfline Trick Tips and today we're gonna learn about generating speed with me, Mick Fanning. Generating speed on your front side, you know at the start you want to just go up as high as you can to the top of the wave and push on your front foot as you just turn your board down. That just gives you that speed just to come around sections or to pull into a tube, or to setup for your bottom turn. I find at the start you don't want to wiggle too much at the bottom of the face, so if you go up and down you use the whole face of the wave, that's when you're gonna get the most speed. If you just wiggle in the middle you sometimes even lose speed, so just trying to get from the bottom of the wave to the top and then just push on your front foot and just accelerate out of it so.Normally you got your front foot set pretty much in the middle of the board where your back foot, when your doing turns, your right against the kickpad here, but I move my foot up to about here. If you look at any surfboard, that’s pretty much the thickest part of the board so that is where you're going to get your most speed out of. Just try to crunch low and then just stand high and then just get that nice flying swoop. Get out there and going like fire.-Mick Fanning

Surfing Under the Northern Lights w/ Mick Fanning | Chasing the Shot: Norway Ep 1

After a glorious gap year from the world of competitive surfing, Mick Fanning and Norwegian photographers Emil Sollie and Mats Grimsæth teamed up to photograph something never done before...a night surf session under nature's most radical light show, the Northern Lights. With the high technology and natural phenomena side of things taken care of, Mick just wanted a good old fashioned surf trip, and with plenty of swell, some wild accommodation, and Kleiner and photographer Trevor Moran on-hand to record the results in a country that is incredibly new to surfing, that's exactly what he had. And for our ever-evolving Chasing The Shot series, this just might be our favorite release yet. Click play and see how Fanning and Co. got the shot.

Ain't No Wave Pool - Mick Fanning on #TheSearch by Rip Curl

What if I told you there was an unknown sand-bottom right that is five kilometres long, breaks 20 metres off the beach, holds six foot of swell and has only been surfed by four people on the entire planet? Would you believe me? What if good-ol’-having-a-year-off-Mick Fanning was one of those surfers, and he told you that this wave had him haulin’ arse like an F1 driver down a strip of sand that never seemed to end. Would you believe him? - - - This ain't no fucking wave pool! This is the real world. This is The Snake. - - - Artist: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Track: Rattle Snake
