Munich MASH 2016 - Overall Sport Highlights

Welcome to the next level! This year once again MASH will be presenting top-level action sports featuring some of the world’s best athletes. Following its success in previous years, Swatch Prime Line will return as a Diamond Event on the FMB World Tour, while for the first time the Street League Skateboarding World Tour will hold its first stop at MASH. The world’s wakeboard elite will also descend on Germany this summer to go head to head in a thrilling Big Air contest. PAUL RODRIGUEZ WINS THE 2016 SLS NIKE SB WORLD TOUR IN MUNICH Starting the season with a strong victory was Nike SB Pro Paul Rodriguez, earning his first SLS victory since 2013, his fifteenth 9 Club trick, $80,000 and the prized Golden Ticket to the SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship. Second and third places deservedly went to Luan Oliveira and Nyjah Huston, each both favorites to make the Championship. DOMINIK HERNLER ROCKS THE OLYMPIC LAKE AT THE MASH Dominik Hernler rocked the Olympic Lake this Sunday with victory at the WAKEBOARD BIG AIR event. The Austrian pulled off a stunning Switch Mobe Melon to claim top spot ahead of local heroes Dominik Gührs and Nico von Lerchenfeld at what was the first edition of this exciting event in Munich’s Olympic Park. “I am so happy. Today everything came off and the atmosphere here at the Olympic Lake was really cool,” commented event winner Hernler. The final of the WABEBOARD BIG AIR contest, held in front of 16.500 MASH-spectators lining the banks of the lake, could hardly have been tenser. The world’s best slopestyle athletes competed in Munich at Swatch Prime Line at MASH today in front of 20,000 spectators in the Olympic Park. In the historic setting it was a nonetheless historic day for the 20-year-old American, who won his first ever FMB Diamond Series Event at Swatch Prime Line.   Rogatkin soared through the air off the last kicker after already knowing that his win was sealed, and showed his “Twister”, before celebrating his success with the ecstatic crowd – even though he could not land the trick. An impressive Max Fredriksson (SWE) and Logan Peat (CAN), who battled back pains since Friday, completed the podium. With his win in Munich this weekend, Rogatkin extends his lead in the FMB Diamond Series. Even more so, due to the fact that last year’s one-two Brett Rheeder (CAN) and Thomas Genon (BEL) each had an unlucky contest. The Swatch Fan Award went to Nico Scholze (GER), for making the crowd get the loudest during his run.
