Hi, my name is Fabian Lentsch. My discipline is big mountain freeride. I was born on 24 May 1993 in Völs, Austria. My special talent is downhill, trailrunning, speedflying, slackline, surfing and rock climbing. My favourite food is steak and seafood.
Big mountain freerider Fabian Lentsch grew up near the slopes in Innsbruck, Austria, so it was no surprise when he turned his attentions to freeskiing. A year later he was already taking on the might of Mont Blanc with his father.
“When I was 15-years-old, I won the first two competitions I competed in,” explains Fabian. “That’s when I realised I can achieve something in this kind of sport.”
Having reigned supreme on home snow at the FWT qualifier at Pitztal Wild Face, Fabian also earned a wild-card entry to the Austrian stop of the elite tour in Hochufuegen, where he secured an impressive third-place podium finish. He then received one of the most important phone calls of his life to date – a wild-card entry for the Fieberbrunn stop of the 2012 tour, also in Austria.
Lentsch's biggest year so far has been 2014 because his consistently good form brought him a place on the 2015 Freeride World Tour – an achievement which ultimately helped him decide to take a break from competing in the sport at the highest level.
“Right now the tour is just not the place to be for me," he says. "I’m sure that I will try to come back one day and show you guys some good skiing. Instead I've been focusing on filming and exploring new regions of skiing terrain all over the world."
