Hi, my name is Kai Mahler. My discipline is freeski big air and slopestyle. I was born on 11 October 1995 in Fischenthal, Switzerland.
There aren’t many winter sportsmen who can claim that they have stood on the X Games podium at the modest age of 16, but Kai Mahler is one of the few. In fact, he’s the youngest freeskier ever to have won an X Games medal.
Growing up in Zurich, Switzerland, meant Kai's family home was minutes away from a ski lift leading up to his local resort. By the time he was 10, he'd decided to become a professional freeskier. Today, he has a stack of titles, including Junior Slopestyle World Champion and Junior Olympics Halfpipe Champion. In addition, he’s also accumulated gold medals in events such as Nine Knights, Frostgun, Braunwald Slopestyle, as well as silver medals at the Winter X Games and Freestyle.CH.
The road to going pro has been far from easy; various knee problems and a broken collarbone have caused complications along the way. But Kai refuses to let anything stop him from reaching his goals and, since returning from injury, he's come back stronger than ever.
Mahler also looks great when he's capturing his talents on film, so check out his edits now.
