Hi, my name is Nick Goepper. My discipline is freeskiing big air/slopestyle. I was born on 14 March 1994 in Indiana, USA. My favourite music is Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, Blink-182. For hip-hop I like Eminem, the Game, and A$AP Rocky.
Imagine a kid from Indiana, who grew up skiing off artificial grass-covered jumps in his backyard, landing on the podium at the Winter X Games in Aspen at the age of 17. That is Nick Goepper’s story. One of the top American slopestyle skiers today, his story is far from over.
Nick was born and raised in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, USA, a town famed more for its whiskey distilleries than its skiing. Nick’s skills soon put him on the radar of veteran Kerry Miller and, within a few months, he had moved out west to Oregon to fulfil a scholarship.
By the winter of 2010-11, Nick had blasted onto the pro-level freeskiing contest circuit, participating in his first Dew Tour and Winter X Games in France. In 2011, he won the Dumont Cup. However, it was late 2012 when he made his big break, scoring a 94.66 at the Winter X Games in Aspen, taking silver.
A 'Breakthrough Athlete of the Year' award soon followed and, in 2013, Nick made a triumphant return to the Winter X Games, this time taking gold. He took another X Games gold in 2014, along with a bronze medal at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
Nick’s goal is to continue to fine-tune his slopestyle run. “I want to have an arsenal of tricks that include virtually every rotation in the book,” he says. “I want to have the complete package, so that no matter what the course is, I can adapt and ski my best. That’s the main goal.”
