The fourth edition of a very special mountain bike adventure has come to a close: PERSKINDOL SWISS EPIC, the most important stage race in Europe and one of most beautiful in the world, is over for another year. With a total of 12,000 m of ascent, a large part of the race was obviously decided in the many long uphill stretches. In return, the riders were rewarded daily with numerous downhill runs: countless long, gorgeous single trails gave them the chance to experience flow at its very best. And then of course, there was the unparalleled scenery of the Swiss Alps. Each individual stage provided plenty of breathtaking panoramic views of the Swiss Alps – and participants had an entire week to feast their eyes on the landscape. Results: Men:1. How to take a perfect stroke? Rowers on the ultimate search for perfection

To win a rowing race the most important thing for rowers is to connect all together in one big movement. Only when all athletes row synchronized with perfect strokes the team has the chance to finish in first place. But what is the “perfect stroke”? The clip is going to answer all your questions.Greg Searle (GBR): “I say within rowing there´s  properly three things that make the boat go fast. One is, do you row a long stroke? So you move the boat a long way, each stroke. The second thing is, do you pull hard? And if you pull hard the boat will go further of each one of those strokes. The third element is, how many stroked do you do per minute? If you do more strokes and they´re still strong strokes and they´re still long strokes the boat will go faster. The problem is, sometimes you push one of these things on and the other one goes down. So the real art with rowing is to row long, to row strong and then take more strokes and then be efficient and be together, so the boat keeps moving forwards.”

Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2017 - Best Moments - Mostar (BIH)

England’s Gary Hunt returned to imperious form to score his second victory of the season in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in doing so reclaimed a lead at the top of the men’s overall standings. American Steven LoBue also repeated his best result of the season by taking second place, while 22- year-old wildcard and World Series debutante, Nikita Fedotov of Russia, produced a surprising but stunning performance to finish in third in front of 17,000 enthusiastic fans.In the women’s, Cesilie Carlton of the US put a poor season behind her to fire to a first victory since 2015, with Australia’s Helena Merten finishing in second place and German wildcard Anna Bader in third. Much of the build up to this event had centred around Hunt’s previous struggles from bridges at World Series events, as in four competitions from bridge into river he has failed to land on top of the podium, as well as his recent dip in form from 27m. But in one afternoon he proved the doubters wrong on both counts, returning to his brilliant best to hold off the roaring challenge of an inspired LoBue and grab his 30th victory in 64 stops.32-year-old LoBue, leading after the third round, showed no nerves as he delivered his difficult inward quint in the final dive of the day, but just fell short of the Brit by a few points. With three nines and two nine and a halves from the judges, Russia’s Fedotov earned the highest scores of the day in his first ever World Series appearance, letting his great talent for acrobatic 3-second-manoeuvres shine through and completing the podium.Following a somewhat low key season for Carlton, in which 6th place was her previous high from the 21m platform, the 36-year-old was once again inspired by the magic of Stari Most, reeling off a series of river-ripping dives to go one better than her second-place finish here last season. Merten and Bader have been no strangers to the podium this season, and again they showed unerring consistency at the shivery Neretva River to join Carlton in the champagne celebrations. With Australia’s Rhiannan Iffland missing the competition due to an injury in training, Adriana Jimenez has now closed the overall gap to the leader to just 60 points, although it could have been even closer if the Mexican had not made an error on her final dive, finishing in fourth. While in the women’s it’s certainly still all to play for going into the final stop at a new location in Chile in October, reigning champion Hunt now holds a 140-point lead ahead of Jonathan Paredes, who finished sixth. The Mexican as well as England’s Blake Aldridge, who came to Bosnia and Herzegovina as the World Series leader, still will have a say in the title fight of this most competitive season yet.Standings (after 5 of 6 stops)MEN1- Gary Hunt (GBR) – 660pts.2- Jonathan Paredes (MEX) – 5203- Blake Aldridge (GBR) – 5104- David Colturi (USA) – 4305- Andy Jones (USA) – 418WOMEN1- Rhiannan Iffland (AUS) – 690pts2- Adriana Jimenez (MEX) – 6303- Helena Merten (AUS) – 6104- Ginger Huber (USA) – 5205- Cesilie Carlton USA – 440Red Bull Cliff Diving World SeriesSince 2009, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series has provided a platform for exhilarating action and dives of ever-growing complexity. The series features elite athletes as well as young up-and-coming talent and a Women’s World Series was introduced in 2014. In 2017 the sport's best athletes will once again leap, twist and somersault from up to 27m with no protection, except their concentration, skill and physical control during six competitions around the world.
